FDA approved a new oral contraceptive Natazia

The USA Food and Drug Administration approved a new combined oral contraceptive Natazia manufactured by Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals.

Natazia contains estrogen (estradiol valerate) and gestagen (dienogest). This is the first four-phase oral contraceptive approved in the U.S

Safety and efficacy of Natazia were confirmed by the results of two multi-center clinical trials involving almost 2,000 women in the U.S. and Europe.

Common side effects include irregular bleeding and nipples swelling, nausea, vomiting, headache. Female smokers over 35 should not use this drug. Smoking increases the risk of side effects from the side of the cardiovascular system.
